Terry Components Starter Warranty Policy

(Harley-Davidson / Big Twin Starters Only)

Lifetime Limited Warranty

This warranty applies only to Terry Components Harley-Davidson / Big Twin starters.

Terry Components warrants its Harley-Davidson / Big Twin starters to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product under normal use and conditions.

Other starter categories (including but not limited to Polaris, Can-Am, and other applications) are covered under separate warranty policies.

What Is Covered

​

This warranty covers:

• Manufacturing defects 

• Internal electrical failure under normal use 

• Faulty components due to workmanship 

At our discretion, Terry Components will:

• Repair, or 

• Replace the defective starter

Warranty Claim Process

​

To initiate a warranty claim:

1. Troubleshooting Required

Before submitting a claim, customers must complete the troubleshooting checklist available on our website to verify that the issue is not caused by:

• Battery cables 

• Battery condition 

• Grounding issues 

• Installation or wiring problems 

 

2. Submit Warranty Form

Complete the warranty claim form at:

3. Advance Replacement (Minimize Downtime)

Once your claim is submitted and reviewed, Terry Components will typically ship a replacement starter immediately to minimize vehicle downtime.

A valid credit card is required at the time of claim and will be authorized until the returned unit is received and inspected.

 

4. Return of Original Starter

A prepaid return shipping label will be included with your replacement starter.

Customers are required to return the original starter within 14 days of receiving the replacement.

Failure to return the original unit within this timeframe may result in the replacement cost being charged.

 

5. Inspection & Final Determination

Once the original unit is received, it will be inspected to determine the cause of failure.

• If the issue is confirmed as a warrantable defect, the authorization on the credit card will be released 

• If the failure is determined to be non-warrantable (see exclusions below), Terry Components reserves the right to charge the replacement cost

Shipping Policy

(Warranty Claims)

• For approved warranty claims within the Continental United States, Terry Components will cover shipping both ways

• For customers outside the Continental United States, additional shipping charges may apply

Exchanges

(Non-Defective Products)

​

If a starter is purchased and does not fit the application (including upgraded or oversized starters):

• Exchanges are allowed 

• Customer is responsible for: 

o Shipping the original unit back 

o Shipping costs for the replacement unit 

This is not considered a warranty defect.

What Is NOT Covered

​

This warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from:

• Improper installation 

• Incorrect application or fitment 

• Overloading due to excessive electrical demand or aftermarket accessories 

• Water intrusion or environmental damage 

• Abuse, misuse, or neglect 

• Modification or disassembly of the starter 

• Heat damage or extended cranking beyond normal use 

• Normal wear of components over time

• Warranty applies only to the original purchaser 

• Proof of purchase may be required 

• Terry Components reserves the right to inspect all returned products before approving warranty claims 

• Warranty is limited to product repair or replacement only and does not cover labor, downtime, or incidental or consequential damages
